Check this out -- Shrinky Dinks!
I know y'all remember Shrinky Dinks -- I found a site that shows you how to make them from stuff you have at home. A great rainy day project with the kids. Love this idea. Go to http://www.curbly.com/Chrisjob/posts/2252-DIY-Shrinky-Dinks- for instructions. You can also order shrink plastic online or check the local craft stores.
Hint: If you want to turn your Shrinky Dink into a keychain or necklace for the kids, use a hole punch on the plastic before putting it in your oven.
Too funny not to share
Not that I have time to do much than the usual - get kids up, fed, dressed, prepare lunches, get the kiddos to school, shop at WalMart (I use self check-out. Why? Well, I guess it makes me feel I am getting out faster. That's a whole story there but I digress on the digression. You know when you get your receipt. The voice says, "Thank you for shopping at WalMart". It should say "Thank you for spending your day at WalMart."), get dinner ready, work, housework, get the kids from school, clean up messes, get snacks, wash clothes, pull hair out during homework, muster strength to be civil to husband and put all to bed before I can sit down and read email or do more work - but I have a client and friend, who is friends with a lady, Anita Renfroe. Anita is a Christian comic, amongst her other talents. She does this routine where she sets phrases that moms use, to the William Tell Overture. Hilarious. See how many phrases she says that come out of your mouth on a daily basis.

New MOPPETS!
Announcing the births of 2 new MOPPETS! Congratulations to Aaron and Christy Ogea on
the birth of their son, Peyton Michael, on July 12, 2007. Peyton's big sister is Emily. Christy will be a new Discussion Group Leader starting in September.
And congratulations to Johnny and Nicole Schembre. Baby Nicholas was born Monday July 24th. His big brother is Johnny, Jr.

MOPS and you
Dear Ladies,
Well, it's finally here - school. And for those of us that have pre-schoolers and up that attend one form of school or another - it's bittersweet and convicting. One side of me is so sad that summer is over and that we did not have an adventure of a lifetime this summer (although actually we had one come pretty close). Then there is the other side of me that is very happy that this blessed creature or creatures from above can go away to a safe place and get some instruction rather than hear the word,"No" all day. Not to mention Mommy's sanity may somewhat be restored. In any case, it's here and not much I can do about it but revel I mean live with it.
And so since school is about to start, so is MOPS. Our first meeting is scheduled for Friday September 28, 9:30 am - 12 noon at FBC Covington. You can register now by downloading registration forms (one for you and one for your children) off our website. Send them via snail mail to me or if you see me, say at FBC or WalMart, you can give them to me. We will be putting groups together in the next few weeks so you will hear from your Discussion Group Leader (DGL) about where you and your cherubs will be during the meeting.

Our theme this year is the Home Factor - Begin Here Go There. It is based on the heart of the HOME is also a picture of God’s desire to interact with us and deeply love us where we really live. He desires to make his home in our hearts. He expresses it this way in the theme verse: "...he lives with you and will be in you." John 14:17
We are in the planning stages of what we will be doing this year but it looks promising to be lots of fun as well as informative and fulfilling. If you have a friend that is a MOPS, have her join as well. If you know of someone who would like to volunteer their time to help with MOPPETS, please forward their name(s) onto info@cobvingtonmops.org.
Got to run. Potty training has all of a sudden taken precedence over this post.
